"North Country" wasn't supposed to mean Canada

Wed Mar 22, 2006 at 02:26:49 PM PDT

When I recently watched "North Country" with my daughters I didn't realize that I was talking about Canada.

This crap just makes me furious. It seems that at times we are in some sort of time warp and for all of the gains I thought that we, as women, had made are tossed out the window. The behaviour of these firemen is outrageous and I hope that the response is swift and meaningful.

When I read articles such as this, after my initial flare of pure unadulterated fury, I feel such a weariness that we perhaps have not come as far as I had hoped

Canadian Senator blasts US policy

Fri Mar 17, 2006 at 06:28:28 PM PDT

The CBC reported on a Canadian Senator who, responding to an American family's concern regarding the seal hunt, blasted back slamming US policies, dealth penalty and foreign adventures

In Canada, Senators are appointed and not elected so the fall out from her comments will not be fatal. It will provide some rather embarrassing moments though for the idtiot we currently have as PM as he tries to show his solid Conservative creds to his counterparts south of the border

The issue of the seal hunt in Canada and globally has become extremely sensitive and frankly I agree with the outrage expressed by the American couple. I wish that the seal hunt would end once and for all. What is interesing is the rather heated response from the Senator. IMHO her words illustrate the level of frustration felt by many in Canada regarding the Bush Administration and the policies he has been pursuing.
