Edward's Comment Stings My Pectorals
Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 12:12:29 AM PDT
I don't mean this to be a hit diary, or a pile on. But in reading the discussions around the blogs today on Edwards' growlingly-infamous comment about Giuliani's "hunky abs," I feel like some folks just don't get it, they truly do not empathize with those of us on the left who hear the words "Bush on Steroids" and feel a vaguely tingly feeling and naughty disgust.
So, briefly, these are some recollections that jump into my brain when I hear "Bush on Steroids"...
Strategy for Selling Iran War to Public revealed
Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 11:50:32 AM PDT
Short diary. But this just made my jaw drop.
Voinovich was comparing Ahmadinejad to Hitler and making fun of his name. And then he dropped this:
"I don't believe that as long as he's there that we're ever going to solve Iraq," Voinovich said. "There seems to be a very deliberate, premeditated effort on their part to expand their influence in that area and this nuclear issue is just part of it."
So that's it. That's how they're going to pull us into it. Will anyone be surprised if our intelligence makes "shocking" discoveries of Iran's support for unrest in Iraq? Suddenly, the Right has a good, invade-able scapegoat for their failure in Iraq.
Terrifying.

Help me create a pro-gay rights sign
Mon Mar 07, 2005 at 09:14:51 AM PDT
Hey Kossacks - I will be attending a rally for gay and civil rights in Indiana tomorrow.
More information here.
I've never been to a rally before and I've never made a sign before.
Help me create a good sign!
Republicans: Filibuster = Terrorism
Fri Mar 04, 2005 at 06:34:22 AM PDT
That's right, according to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, filibustering Democrats are terrorists -
"Indiana's drive for growth and reform was car-bombed yesterday by the Indiana House minority," Daniels said. Article
here.
And unlike the old, spineless Democrats who apologize for everything, even their beliefs, Daniels has refused to
apologize.
Indiana Republicans Weaken Democracy
Tue Feb 22, 2005 at 06:49:58 PM PDT
As our state senate moves to
enshrine bigotry in our constitution and to end civil unions and domestic partner rights, our Senate Republicans are moving to strip Indiana voters of their rights by actually moving in the opposite direction of election reform.
CNN survey: Kerry picks up Ohio, New Hampshire
Fri Oct 15, 2004 at 05:27:55 PM PDT
So, to everyone moaning and whining today, cheer up. The Cheney thing has slipped entirely off CNN's main pages and is even hard to find on the politics page. Instead, we have
Kerry picks up Ohio, New Hampshire.
Fav quotes:
"For now, at least, the trend appears to be moving Kerry's way."
"Bush, who held a commanding edge coming out of his convention last month, is now clinging to statistically insignificant leads..."
"New polling shows the only so-called "blue" states where Kerry's lead is less than five points are Michigan and Pennsylvania..."
"Kerry's gains in Ohio and New Hampshire -- both traditionally Republican states that Al Gore narrowly lost in 2000 -- mark the first time the senator has taken a state out of Bush's column since CNN's political unit started conducting a weekly survey of the electoral map in late July."
Yeah, yeah - polls is polls. But
WOO HOO anyway!

Our increasingly effective post-debate spin ...
Fri Oct 15, 2004 at 11:30:23 AM PDT
As pointed out on several blogs, the Cheney-flap doesn't work long term for the Republicans, because they can't tie it into any larger narrative about the debates or the campaign.
BUT WE CAN. That's why it will turn and bite them.
(see how, after the fold!)
