What Democratic Challengers Face

This is a wonderful characterization in the Peoria Journal Star on the Editorial Cartoon page.

Incumbent money is only half the problem.

John Shimkus (IL-19) Protects Pedophiles

Sun Oct 01, 2006 at 09:39:47 AM PDT

He protects them, and the print media protects him.  No matter how bad the message is, the writer still manages to write the article in a positive light for Shimkus.  You almost can't help feeling sorry for him, too.

Article after the jump.  Also consider this:  John Shimkus - protector of Mark FoleyPost comments!!!

Getting Away with Treason

Sun Sep 24, 2006 at 10:16:57 PM PDT

Just in case the conservative media never publishes the facts, Consortium News did.  There is more to the Valerie Plame story than many realize.

Must be nice to get away with treason.

Exclude the Many to Include the Few

Fri Sep 08, 2006 at 02:57:20 PM PDT

Karin Johanson, Executive Director, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has sent out a message about the organization's Voter Turnout Fund. It is supposed to help Democratic House campaigns at least 50 Congressional districts launch their volunteer programs with Action for a New Direction Day. It is the most sophisticated and robust volunteer and get out the vote (GOTV) program ever executed in a midterm election.  They are coordinating local volunteers to knock on an average of 25,000 doors per district. This event occurs on September 09, 2006.

If volunteers sign up, they are supposed to hear from the local, critical Democratic candidates who need help the most. The DCCC's recruitment goal is 40,000 volunteers willing to make phone calls, knock on doors, and pass out campaign fliers.  The effort is for stopping the destructive agenda of Bush and his Republican rubber stamps is to vote for change on Election Day.

Unfortunately, only a select few candidates will receive the financial and volunteer support.  That is not the message the DCCC is giving to everyone either.

Wed Jul 26, 2006 at 04:44:28 PM PDT

NovemberVictory is a group of Democratic congressional candidates meeting in St. Louis August 18, 19, and 20.  The group faces the same problem nationally that the candidates face locally -- getting the press to cover their campaigns.

Lies The Presidents Have Told

Thu Oct 27, 2005 at 07:57:57 PM PDT

Scott Ritter, a former Marine, was a top United Nations (UN) weapons inspector in Iraq between 1991 and 1998. He lead more an a dozen missions often facing top Iraqi military and security personnel. He has maintained the argument that Saddam Hussein had been disarmed and has never threatened U.S. security. It is nothing more than domestic politics.

For Every Democratic Congressional Candidate

Mon Oct 10, 2005 at 03:23:00 PM PDT

There is is a new discussion group available to Democratic Congressional Candidates challenging the enrenched Republican incumbents.  Democrats are committed to winning back the U.S. House of Representatives. Unfortunately, there are Congressional Districts with a Democratic candidate challenging the entrenched Republican incumbent and the persistent perception that the democratic challenger has no chance of winning.  Therefore, the person receives little or no national support. For the most part, the situation leaves a candidate entirely on his/her own. All the skills needed for waging an effective campaign fall on the shoulders of the person who decides to step into the arena.

There is now another networking resource available to all Democratic congressional candidates.  Spread the word to your Democratic congressional candidate and please recommend!

Dem Challengers, Rahm Emanuel, & DCCC Staff Equals Historical Meeting

Thu Sep 22, 2005 at 04:37:19 AM PDT

Q:  What is the best way to describe the relationship between challenger Democratic congressional candidates and the Democratic Congressional Candidate Committee (DCCC)?

A:  Strained tension - at best

During a historic 9 a.m. meeting between the two groups, this was not noticeable 5 minutes into it on Thursday, September 15, 2005.

Please recommend this diary.  Check out the rest of the story below the fold and then contact your Democratic Congressional Challengers so they can be a part of future meetings with this new PAC.

Delegation of Dem Challengers meets with DCCC and DC PACs

Sun Sep 18, 2005 at 10:01:59 PM PDT

Sometimes the tension between challenger Democratic congressional candidates and the Democratic Congressional Candidate Committee (DCCC) is strained at best.  This was not noticeable 5 minutes into the meeting at 9 a.m., Thursday September 15, 2005.  Staff members of PACs know only too well that a meeting with Rep. Rahm Emanuel's entire staff in a room and having his undivided attention for more than 10 minutes just does not happen.  To have that kind of meeting for 45 minutes is an unprecedented event. Maybe we are seeing the first rays of hope from the party toward a greater commitment to challengers.

PBS Web Site Alert Notification

Thu Sep 15, 2005 at 03:49:37 PM PDT

While a researcher for the Democratic Commitment Conference Political Action Committee was searching the PBS NOW program site, he noticed that many of the pages and transcripts with information critical of the Bush administration (e.g., EPA policies) are suddenly unavailable, missing, or incorrectly linked.

Comparing GOP Incumbents to Dem Challengers

Mon Sep 12, 2005 at 10:29:23 AM PDT

Most Democrat candidates challenging a GOP incumbent for their congrressional seat have already announced.  Many CDs have NO Democrat challenger.  For those CDs that do, a Democrat blogger from EVERY state should do their homework & post the findings for a comparative analysis.  Spend some time in a library that has subscriptions to all the DBs.  University & community colleges will have the accesses.  Post the information to the blogs.  Voters need to know that there are differences between the entrenched GOP incumbents & the unsupported, underfunded Dem candidates.  The results are interesting especially how all House roads usually lead back to Tom DeLay.

Bupkis Personified

Sat Sep 10, 2005 at 09:43:46 AM PDT

That is the best way to describe any promise from the perfect Republican soldier, John Shimkus (IL-19). Yet he feels his constituents want him to remain in office. For those who know the TRUE John Shimkus (i.e., a commonplace, duplicitous, fraudulent control-freak working hard to maintain a facade of the competent integrity of a good guy -- human decency is beyond his comprehension), this makes no sense.

450 People

-- a Majority Does Not Make

It does not justify Rep. John Shimkus (IL-19) dishonoring his constituents and staying in Congress as long as possible. He will be on the ballot in 2006. If his enlightened and embittered constituents of any political party allow him to remain in office, he now promises to break his term-limit pledge and be on the ballot for a seventh term in 2008.
