Sen. Kerry Convention Remarks

Sorry this diary is just Kerry's remarks.  I know that many missed his speech because the talking heads like to hear themselves talk.

Here's the complete transcript

Broken News

Tue Aug 26, 2008 at 12:50:42 PM PDT

Newsweek's theater critic, Jeremy McCarter, a political junkie just hit one out of the park.

I wish that every loudmouthed pundit on cable news could see themselves in it.  Our time to shine and the cable coverage of the convention is 80% negative.  How do we get it to stop!

Hillary is not conceeding tomorrow or anytime soon

Mon Jun 02, 2008 at 02:00:56 PM PDT

From NBC's Ron Allen, Christina Jamison and NBC/NJ's Mike Memoli
On the plane just now flying from Rapid City, S.D., to Sioux Falls, S.D., campaign spokesman Mo Elleithee maintained that Clinton is not getting out of the race tomorrow night -- or anytime soon.

Elleithee said as long as there is still no nominee (and incidentally he wouldn't say the campaign acknowledges a delegate number at which there will be a nominee), the senator will be making the case on the phone to committed and uncommitted superdelegates and uncommitted delegates.

He repeatedly said there will be "an ongoing dialogue" with committed and undeclared superdelegates.

Ted Kennedy I feel change in the air

Sat May 24, 2008 at 05:38:52 AM PDT

To my Kos friends:

I think that Kieth, Kos and blog world went way overboard in their condemnation of Hillary's remarks. It was a horrible thing to say, it was a stupid thing to say.  I don't pretend to have a clue as to why she said it.

But still enough is enough.  let it go, please.  As Jon Stewart would say "You're hurting America" and you are also hurting the Democratic party.

For my Hillary supporting friends:

Please understand though there is a very real concern for Obama's safety.  A little insight from the Obama campaign upon hearing the news

Privately, aides to Mr. Obama were furious at the remark, particularly because his safety is a particularly sensitive issue. He was the first presidential candidate to receive Secret Service protection more than a year ago because of specific threats, none of which were disclosed.

It's a very real fear, so please forgive the feeding frenzy.

Terry McAuliffe gets booed in Colorado

Sat May 17, 2008 at 12:23:58 PM PDT

From The Politico

There are 10,000 Democrats here today in Colorado Springs, the most conservative city in Colorado. As one person I overheard say, "We're in the lions' den."

Lots of talk about how the eyes of the nation will soon be on Denver during the national convention and turning Colorado blue in the general election.

Terry McAuliffe is here too. He says the party will be united but then cites Hillary as having a lead in the popular vote, which draws loud boos from the majority of the crowd. It takes a few minutes for the crowd to stop booing. Everyone kisses and makes up as McAuliffe says to work hard for your prospective candidates and then vote Democrat no matter who it is.

Harold Ickes - desparately trying to save Hillary

Tue May 06, 2008 at 01:08:12 PM PDT

Clinton delegate honcho tells The Page that his main argument when talking to supers is: "We don’t know enough about Senator Obama yet. We don’t need an October Surprise. And (the chance of) an October Surprise with Hillary is remote."

Also claims superdelegates (a/k/a: automatic delegates) are interested in the results of the last few contests "and thinking much more and much harder and in a much more focused way about the fall election. And that was not true pre-Ohio."

About the Democratic National Committee meeting on May 31 to resolve Florida and Michigan, says, "that’s something that we are sort of waiting on...The number needed for the nomination cannot be determined until those challenges are settled and resolved."

Strategic Vision:

Obama Narrows the Gap in Pennsylvania
Political Wire got an advance look at a new Strategic Vision poll in Pennsylvania that shows Sen. Hillary Clinton leading Sen. Barack Obama by eight points, 49% to 41%. This is a dramatic change from last month's poll that found Clinton leading by 18 points.

In a general election match-up, Clinton leads McCain 47% to 41%; McCain leads Obama 47% to 42%.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3%.

Did Hillary misspeak again?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 01:37:35 PM PDT

What's up with Hillary lately?  Is she still missing sleep?  Here's another misstatement.  Not as bad as Bosnia but you think that she would have learned a lesson.  If this is how she is going to govern if elected - we are in deep trouble

Hillary claimed that she misspoke about Bosnia but then said that she was the First First Lady to fly into a combat zone.  Wrong again!

Yesterday, Hillary Clinton explained how she "misspoke" about a story she's told several times over the past four months, that of avoiding sniper fire on a 1996 trip to Bosnia. (I already mentioned how reporters were mocking the Sinbad story back in Iowa.)

But while discussing the issue at a Pennsylvania news conference, Clinton added another inaccuracy to the Bosnia story.

From today's Washington Post:

Questioned about this speech yesterday while campaigning in Pennsylvania, Clinton said that she remembered being told by the military and the Secret Service that "we were going into a war zone," adding: "I was the first first lady taken into a war zone since Eleanor Roosevelt.
